Channapatna Toys & Dolls

The craft, which has a Geographical Indication (GI) tag, uses a unique lac-turnery technique and includes items like rattles, dolls, puzzles, and home decor.
Wood Procurement: The primary wood used is the locally grown ivory-wood (Wrightia tinctoria), also known as Aale mara, chosen for its soft, fine grain which is ideal for shaping. Other woods like rubber, sycamore, and cedar are also used today.
